Cahaba Coal Fields

As noted on the previous page, Belle Ellen was located in Bibb County, about 10 miles southwest of Bessemer.  As shown in the 1908 map, the area was heavily mined in the early 1900's.  Rail access to this area was developed jointly by the Southern and the L&N.
