Cahaba Coal Fields

As noted on the historical marker, Coleanor was a close neighbor to Piper, although the two sets of mines were operated by different coal companies.  Both communities were served by a spur line from the Southern Ry.'s "Blocton Branch", which originated in Shelby County, to the east.
