One of the photographers, Arthur Rothstein, visited the Birmingham District in 1937 as a 22 year old staffer of the FSA. This photo of Rothstein was taken in Pennsylvania, in 1938. What a great job this must have been for a young photographer!
One group of Rothstein photos has intrigued me since I saw them and I believe that I have figured out the location. Based on aerial photos, maps and knowledge of the area, I believe that the following photos were taken at Ishkooda 9 1/2, a TCI red ore mine, on Red Mountain. Ishkooda Photos
