Cast Iron Pipe

AL has long been a center for the manufacturing of iron pipe. First, cast
iron pipe and now modern ductile iron pipe. Today there are two main
manufacturers in Birmingham
ACIPCO (American Cast Iron Pipe Company)
U.S. Pipe (United States Cast Iron Pipe and Foundry Company)
Both of these companies operate large plants in Birmingham and these are in turn recorded by the HABS program. Images of these are available at the Library of Congress web site.
