At this point, steps were retraced to see about heading back down the mountain, and see if the trampath could be followed.  This is the big cut again, looking northeast.  This would be in the general direction where it is expected that the second mine will be found.  As it turned out, at the west end of the cut, the path is not easily followed.  No downhill route was identified on this trip.
