This is a view of the former L&N passenger platform, now used by Amtrak, taken from the 21st Street Viaduct, which was completed before the grade separation although it was a part of the plan to be implemented.  20th Street passes under the railroad just behind the trees. The smokestack on the left is part of the Alabama Power Co. steam plant, originally built by Birmingham Electric Company as a generating station.  The white structure to the right is the Two North Twentieth Building (b. 1962) which occupies the site of the former L&N Station building.
