This is the 21st Street Viaduct taken looking north toward the Central Business District i about 1994. The original high rise buildings of the "Magic City" show well in the image. The building in the rear center is the SouthTrust Tower, prior to the bank mergers of the 2000's. This picture shows how the railroad was raised above the existing ground and the viaduct raised higher still in the 1930 era grade separation project.  This view is very close to the skyline that would have been seen in 1930.
