There are two drill holes in this picture, which seem to indicate that this rock face was altered to create a more vertical face.  The picture is taken looking us at the holes from below.  The smaller shot on the left is a close up from a similar position -- the holes line up vertically in adjacent strata.  Each hole was about an inch or so in diameter.
